Carry-on essentials

Shop the story
I'm currently spending every waking moment in front of my computer, typing away to finish my book series before the looming deadline, but there are a few moments when I allow myself to daydream about the little celebratory trip I'll be taking once my books are out. And I begin making a mental list of the things that I need to take with me onboard. Aside from the absolute essentials (laptop, tablet, book, passport and such), and clothes and other necessities for my trip (which typically go in checked luggage), here are the things I like to have with me to make my life easier during flights:

1. My wonderful The Row jersey cardigan to wrap myself in when it gets cold, in black, as it is the most stylish colour ever (says me, and yes, I fully consider myself to be an authority on the matter.)

2. The Sewlomax Airplane SOS travel kit with essentials I would otherwise forget about (it contains a portable battery charger, La Fresh nail polish remover, anti-bacterial wipe and deodorant wipe sachets, hair slides, hair tie, emery board, mending kit, plaster, tweezers, safety pin, lip balm, Lil-lets tampon, pair of ear plugs, pair of earring backs & Mirror)

3. Burt's Bee's Tinted Lip Balm has been a favourite of mine for many years, as it gives both hydration and a little bit of colour.

4. Tarte maracuja oil is necessary for me because my skin gets VERY dry during flights. Beauty oils always work much better for me than regular moisturizers, so I always have a small, travel-size bottle with me wherever I go, and it is a lifesaver.

5. Burt's Bees Towelettes and Korres deodorant to freshen up until I can have a shower (or better, a bubble bath!)

6. L'Occitane Hand cream to keep my hands moisturized in-flight; it helps my nail polish stay on as well.

8. Ritter Sport chocolate because I always, always need chocolate, and Ritter Sport is a bit of tradition when I am traveling.

9. Benefit How To Look The Best At Everything make-up kit for touch-ups shortly before landing, so I don't look like a zombie to whoever is picking me up from the airport.
