Updated Skincare Routine

When I started this blog two years ago, I was suffering from severe, nearly-handicapping cystic acne. While my skin condition has greatly improved today, to the point where I have regained my enough confidence to become a model, it is not yet in constant perfect state. To me, "perfect skin" means when I do not need to wear foundation, concealer, or even powder, and over the past few years, I've had a total of two weeks of perfect skin at the most. And while I do not have any horrible pimples anymore, just a few small ones around my periods, my main skin issues now are excessive dryness and redness.
To reach my "perfect skin" goal, I've tailored my skincare routine to address these problems and attenuate them, if not eliminate them on a long-time basis. After trying different products, I'm glad to say that I finally discovered exactly what works for me and makes my skin look better.

1 - I use Neutrogena foaming pink grapefruit scrub every other day under the shower to slough off my dry skin patches. What I love about this scrub, aside from its delicious smell and budget-friendly price, is that it is formulated to keep acne away all the while being gentle enough on my dry, sensitive skin.

2 - To remove my make-up, I have remained faithful to the ever-classic Ponds cold cream. Its formula dissolves make-up and impurities without the need to rinse, which preserves my skin from extra-dryness and even provides it with some moisture.

3 - Next, I apply lavender essential oil on any blemishes and on the reddest areas. Lavender essential oil has cicatrisant properties, and helps the skin heal faster (source/more on this here). And while I'm able to use it on my skin undiluted, not all skins are the same, so I heavily recommend that you do a skin patch test to avoid any bad reactions. To be safe, you can dilute it in a carrier oil, like coconut oil, which I do sometimes when my skin is in need of extra moisture.

4 - I then apply two pumps of Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst-Quenching Serum all over my face and neck. While quite pricey, this is a miraculous product for extremely dry skins; you even feel relief the moment you put it on, and it is formulated to lock in moisture.

5 - Finally, I smooth a pea-sized amount of Ole Henriksen "nurture me" all over my face. This is another higher-end product that I heavily recommend, as it is perfect for sensitive skins and helps tremendously with redness, irritation, and rosacea.
