This Week

The chandeliers at the Kennedy Center, right before the second act of Tristan und Isolde

This week has been a very happy one; I've been constantly surrounded by beauty, art, music, family and friends. I'm glad to say that little nest of mine is getting more and more beautiful by the second; but the real highlight of my week was yesterday night's performance of Tristan und Isolde at the Kennedy Center, which I attended with two very dear friends. I've already professed my love for Wagner several times, but I have literally no words to describe the utter beauty last night. The singers, among them Swedish soprano Irene Theorin and British tenor Ian Storey, were splendid.
The beauty doesn't stop yet; I am heading in a few hours to a performance of Verdi's I Masnadieri with the beautiful coloratura soprano Lisette Oropesa, and will return home to watch the premiere of Downton Abbey; later next week, the first meeting of the opera club takes place at my former school, which is another thing I'm very much looking forward to.

My outfit last night: vintage 1950s lace dress, high lace heels... I was saving this outfit for a special occasion; what's more special than Wagner?!

My friends and I returned late at night and had a lovely wine and cheese dinner.

Paintings I've made of things I love (opera, symbolized by Maria Callas, shoes, and cats!). I'm making it a point to stylishly personalize my apartment!

Roses from the Farm Women's Market + vintage teapots from the Saint John's Episcopal Church Opportunity Shop*. You think I'm becoming obsessed with tea? Wait, just wait till I show you my tea cabinet!

*Not only it's a place to find amazing vintage and second-hand treasures for your wardrobe and home, but the proceeds go to charity and most importantly, the church with which the shop is affiliated is LGBT-friendly
