The Art of Bathing

February 26, 2013

Though the environmentally-conscious solution would be to take short showers, the list of bathing benefits is endless. When assailed by stress and problems that sometimes get much more overwhelming that they should be, I unplug myself from everything for a couple of hours, and start my bathing ritual. I am lucky enough to have both a shower and a tub in my apartment, so while the tub is being filled with warm water, essential oils, bath gels and salts (for me, the more scented, the better!), I quickly wash myself, then enter my bathtub and lie in there. It's like a closed environment, retired from the outer world. The relaxing atmosphere helps me become more lethargic and shut out stressful, upsetting thoughts, and slowly, I manage not to think anymore.

And when I emerge, I am completely relaxed, and feeling so much better.
