In the eye of the hurricane

October 29, 2012
I am currently waiting for what is predicted to be the worse of hurricane Sandy (although I am still hoping it won't be as bad as they say) and enjoying electricity and internet before it all goes out. (I HATE power outages). I've talked with the family and friends abroad and overseas (they are quite terrified from watching the news) and checked on those who live in the area to make sure they're all safe and ready.
I am hoping that the Halloween birthday party I planned for my darling Julie won't have to be cancelled - I put too much work in that. Today, she threw the most funny tantrum (although it did get rather annoying in the end) because she wanted me to take her to the pool. I think the fear of her party not happening is making her lose her mind.
I've just made myself a nice cup of Earl Grey, and I will now cuddle in bed with a favorite novel (A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff), all the while listening, again, to Richard Wager's Die Walküre... I can hardly think of a better opera in this weather. Sorry, Donizetti and Callas, but when the storm is beating outside, Bel Canto just doesn't cut it.
When the power comes back, I will talk to you a most exciting vintage find (of which my Instagram followers may have gotten a glimpse!)
DC-area residents and New Yorkers, but also all the others who live on the path of the hurricane, please stay safe.

Oh my gosh! I really hope it doesn't turn out to be as bad as they say. I'll be praying for you guys! It's times like this that I'm glad I live in California...but then again we get earth quakes every now and then.

Stay safe, doll!
